My first successful model designed by Kamiya (I attempted the Ancient Dragon but it didn’t turn out so well… I will keep trying!).

Robert Lang folds way-new origami

“Robert Lang is a pioneer of the newest kind of origami — using math and engineering principles to fold mind-blowingly intricate designs that are beautiful and, sometimes, very useful.

Robert Lang merges mathematics with aesthetics to fold elegant modern origami. His scientific approach helps him make folds once thought impossible — and has secured his place as one of the first great Western masters of the art.”

Amazing and inspiring TED Talk by Robert Lang that discusses the basis of how to design an origami figure and the many applications of origami.

This is my first model folded with cotton paper. Cotton paper is much more durable than printing paper or cheap origami paper from bookstores. I actually folded this model a few days ago with printing paper and it ripped on the crease from the Devil’s chest straight through its stomach :( It also doesn’t create white creases on the shiny surfaces. However, I bought the handmade type instead of the machine-made type so the fiber-y texture makes the paper become very furry.
